Other Eligibility Conditions:-

1. He/She must be able to read, write and speak Odia and have
1. Passed Middle School Examination with Odia as a Language subject or
2. Passed HSC or equivalent exam with Odia as medium of exam in non-language subject or
3. Passed in Odia as a language subject in the final examination of class-Vii from a school or Educational Institution
4. Passed a test in odia in Middle English School Standard conducted by the School & Mass Education Department of the Government of Odisha
2. If married to a person having one spouse living, shall not be eligible for appearing at the exam

Examination Criteria for Odisha Civil Services 2018:-

The Odisha Public Service Commission (OPSC) on 1st November, 2018 has declared the examination date for the Odisha Civil Service 2018 preliminary examination. The Odisha Civil Services 2018 preliminary examination will be conducted on 25th November, 2018 for 218 post.

The examination shall consist two papers (Paper-I & II). The Paper I (General Studies) will begin on 10.30 AM to 12.30 PM and the Paper II (General Studies) will begin on 2.00 PM to 4.00 PM. The Paper-I shall consist 100 MCQs and Paper-II shall consist 80 MCQs.

1. Preliminary Examination (Objective type MCQ)

1. General Studies: Paper-I - 200 marks
2. General Studies: Paper-II - 200 marks

1. Main Examination- Compulsory: 1400 marks & Optional Papers: 1200 marks

1. Paper -I: Odia Language -  300 marks
2. Paper-II: English - 300 marks
3. Paper-III: English Essay - 200 marks
4. Paper-IV: General Studies-I - 300 marks
5. Paper-V: General Studies-II - 300 marks

1. Personality Test or Interview: 250 marks

Number of Attempts permitted in Odisha Civil Services 2018:-

1. General: 04 Attempts
2. SC and ST: No such limit
3. SEBC: 07 Attempts

* An attempt at a Preliminary Examination shall be deemed to be an attempt at the Examination

2. History of India and Indian National Movement
3. Indian and World Geography Physical Social Economic Geography of India and the world
4. Indian Polity and Governance Constitution, Political System, Panchayati Raj, Public Policy, Rights issues
5. Economic and Social Development sustainable development, Poverty, inclusion, demographics, social sector intitiatives
6. General issues on environmental ecology, bio diversity and climate change that do not require subject specialization, and
7. General Science

Paper-II

1. Comprehension
2. Interpersonal Skills including communication skills
3. Logical Reasoning and Analytic ability
4. Decision making and Problem Solving
5. General Mental Ability
6. Basic numeracy (numbers and their relations, orders of magnitude
7. Class-x, Data Interpretation (Charts, Graphs, Tables, Data Sufficiency etc. Class X level) and
8. English language Comprehension Skills (Class X level)
